From the moment you load into the Heart of Heaven, you’re hit with an incredible sense of scale and serenity. The art team at NetEase has truly outdone themselves. We’re talking majestic temples with sweeping, pagoda-style roofs, serene gardens with tranquil ponds, and intricately carved stone dragons watching over the battlefield. The color palette is a vibrant mix of reds, golds, and greens, a welcome departure from some of the darker, more desolate maps we’ve been battling on. You can almost feel the mystical energy of K’un-Lun in the air.
But don’t let the picturesque scenery fool you. Beneath this tranquil facade lies a fiercely contested battleground. The lore behind the map is just as compelling as its visuals. The Timestream Entanglement has reached this legendary city, and the protector of K’un-Lun, the immortal dragon Shou-Lao, has fallen into a deep slumber. This has left the city vulnerable, and who else but Doctor Doom is scheming to seize the dragon’s power for himself. It’s up to Iron Fist and the defenders of K’un-Lun to protect their home, setting the stage for some epic clashes.
Navigating the Sacred Grounds: Map Layout and Key Areas

The Heart of Heaven is a Convergence map, which means we’ll be fighting for control of a central point that moves through different phases. From my initial playthroughs, the map feels incredibly dynamic, offering a great mix of open courtyards for those big team fights and tighter, winding corridors perfect for flanking and outmaneuvering your opponents.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the verticality. There are multiple levels to almost every area, from elevated balconies overlooking the objective to hidden pathways beneath the main thoroughfares. Heroes with high mobility are going to have a field day here. I’m talking about your Spider-Mans, your Iron Mans, and your Storms. Being able to quickly reposition and attack from unexpected angles will be crucial to controlling the flow of the match.
Here are some of the key areas I’ve identified so far:
- The Grand Plaza: This is likely where the first objective will be. It’s a large, open area with a central pagoda. Expect some intense, head-on brawls here. Control of the high ground on the surrounding balconies will be a major advantage.
- The Inner Sanctum: As the objective moves, you’ll likely push into a more enclosed temple area. The sightlines here are much shorter, favoring close-quarters combatants. Watch out for ambushes from the many doorways and side passages.
- The Dragon’s Overlook: This area offers a stunning view of the slumbering Shou-Lao coiled around a distant mountain. It also features some precarious ledges and drops, so be mindful of your positioning, especially when facing heroes with knockback abilities.
One of the most talked-about features among the community is the fog that rolls in at certain points in the match. This can dramatically reduce visibility, making it harder to spot enemies at a distance. This is a fascinating mechanic that will force teams to adapt their strategies on the fly. Heroes with reconnaissance abilities, like Black Widow or Peni Parker, could become invaluable in these foggy conditions.
