ARC Raiders’ Torrente: The C-Tier LMG I Wanted to Love (And Why You Should Skip It)

Last Updated on: November 13, 2025

Hey Raiders, Elias here from Rivalsector.com.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there. You’re browsing the Gunsmith, you see the Torrente, and your eyes go wide. “A 60-round magazine?” you whisper. “It upgrades to 90?” You have visions of squad-wipes, of holding a doorway against an entire team, of becoming a walking, talking, bullet-spewing Juggernaut.

I had those visions, too. I spent the resources. I crafted the upgrades. I took it into the Barricades, ready to melt everyone who crossed my path.

And after dozens of raids, and more trips back to the den than I care to admit, I’m here to tell you the cold, hard truth: The Torrente is a C-tier weapon.

I know, I know. You’ve seen the clips. You’ve heard the hype. But in the fast, brutal, and mobility-driven meta of ARC Raiders, the Torrente is a paper tiger. It’s a “noob trap” that promises overwhelming power but delivers overwhelming frustration. It’s slow, it’s clunky, and it’s outclassed in every situation that matters.

Today, I’m breaking down exactly why I’ve benched this gun for good, and why you should probably save your Advanced Mechanical Components.

The On-Paper Promise vs. The In-Game Reality

The Torrente is a Rare-tier Light Machine Gun that chews through Medium Ammo. Its entire identity is built around its magazine, which starts at 60 and scales to a ridiculous 90 rounds at Level 4. On paper, it looks like a god-tier CQC weapon.

But a weapon’s stats tell a story, and the Torrente’s story is a tragedy. Its strengths are completely undermined by its fatal flaws.

Just look at how it stacks up against the guns that actually dominate the meta.

Stat Comparison: The Specialist’s Downfall

Effective Range0-15m (if crouched)0-8m0-15m

That “Extremely Low” mobility is not an exaggeration. It’s a death sentence. The Torrente has a base Agility stat of 37.7. This gun doesn’t just make you slow, it makes you feel like you’re wading through concrete.

A Weapon Without a Role

The core problem with the Torrente is that it fails at every job it tries to do. It’s a specialist weapon with no real specialty.

It Fails at Close Quarters (CQC)

You’d think a 90-round mag would make you a CQC king. You are wrong.

In ARC Raiders, CQC is decided by two things: mobility and Time-to-Kill (TTK). The Torrente has the worst of both.

  • You Can’t Move: An enemy with a Bobcat SMG will literally run circles around you. You cannot strafe, you cannot reposition, and you cannot chase. The moment you commit to a fight, you are a static, easy-to-hit turret.
  • Your TTK is Awful: The Torrente’s low base damage (only 8 points) means you have to land a lot of shots to get a kill. While you’re holding the trigger and trying to land your 7th or 8th bullet, the enemy with a Vulcano has already clicked once and sent you back to the loading screen.
  • Glacial ADS Time: By the time you’ve lifted this 12-kilogram monstrosity to your shoulder, the fight is already over. It is unusable in a “snap” or “reflex” fight, which is 90% of all CQC.

The only way to use it is to pre-fire a corner. But if the enemy is smart, they’ll just wait for you to stop, or toss a grenade, or simply walk away and flank you.

It Fails at Mid-Range

“Okay, Elias,” you say, “so it’s not a CQC-rusher. What about holding a hallway? Area denial?”

This is where the gun’s other fatal flaw comes in: its accuracy. The weapon’s description literally tells you it is “only accurate while crouched.”

Think about what this means. To hit anything past 15 meters, you must stop moving completely and crouch. You become the single easiest target in the entire raid. Any player with a “Renegade,” a “Tempest,” or even a common “Kettle” will see you, line up their shot, and drop you with a single headshot.

You’ve traded all your mobility for a “privilege” that every other assault rifle gets for free. It is a terrible, terrible trade.

The 90-Round Trap

That massive magazine isn’t a feature. It’s a crutch. It’s a “noob trap” that encourages you to spray-and-pray, which is a tactic that will get you killed by any decent player.

In this game, the fight is over in 1.5 seconds. You don’t need 90 rounds. You need the first 10 rounds to hit, and you need them to hit hard.

  • The low damage means you often lose trades, even if you shoot first.
  • The massive ammo pool just means you’ll be loud for longer, attracting every other Raider and ARC patrol in the area.
  • The reload, even with upgrades, is still a painful 2.5-3 seconds. If you do manage to empty your mag (or get caught) in a 1v3, you are a dead man.

Why would I pour resources into upgrading this LMG to Level 4, just to be less effective than a Level 2 Vulcano?

The Opportunity Cost: What You Should Be Building

Your resources in ARC Raiders are precious. Every piece of Advanced Hardware you dump into the Torrente is a piece you could have spent on a weapon that is actually S-Tier.

If you want to win fights, this is what you should be focusing on:

  • For CQC: Craft the Vulcano. It is the undisputed king of close-range. It one-shots, it’s mobile, and it dictates the terms of every indoor fight.
  • For Versatility: Craft the Tempest or Renegade. These are the workhorses. They are accurate, mobile, and effective at all the ranges where the Torrente fails.
  • For Mobility: Craft the Bobcat. If you love to run-and-gun, this is your tool. Its high mobility and fast TTK are what the Torrente wishes it had.

Honestly, if you are looking for the ARC Raiders best weapons and a true meta-breakdown, the Torrente isn’t even in the conversation. It’s a fun-gun, a meme-cannon, but it is not a winning gun.

My Final Verdict: Save Your Resources

I wanted to love the Torrente. I really did. The idea of it is awesome. But the execution is a clunky, heavy, slow, and inaccurate mess.

It’s a weapon that forces you to stand still in a game that rewards movement. It’s a weapon with a slow TTK in a game that rewards instant alpha-damage. It’s a resource sink that is outclassed by cheaper, more efficient, and more effective options.

It is, for me, the definition of C-Tier. It’s not useless, but I will never bring it on a serious raid again.

Now, I’ve got to know. Do you disagree? Are you a Torrente main who’s figured out the secret sauce? Or do you have another “C-Tier” weapon that broke your heart? Let me know in the comments.

Stay safe out there, Raiders. And don’t believe the LMG-hype.
